Throughout my life I've been privileged to live in many areas of the country, from California to North Carolina. The experiences of seeing such beautiful landscapes and cultures has inspired me to become a more creative person. My goal in life is to share the wonderful things I've seen and heard. Being an artist is such a treasure because I can try to express myself through my art. I truly want my art to evoke an emotional response, in addition to being a visual experience. Colour and light on any subject, whether landscapes, wildlife, or portraits is so stirring to me, it can inspire me to develop a series of paintings or just one that captured the moment.
Until 1995, I was just working in the mediums of oil, acrylic, ink, and watercolour. Then came New Mexico. The colour and light of life took on new dimensions for me. I understood then why so many artist call it home, and how they could turn out such a truly diverse array of beautiful work. Upon visiting the numerous galleries, I was captivated by the vibrant, rich colours and textures attained by seasoned pastelists. The multi-cultural blend of people, enchanting and beautiful scenery and the flora and fauna now became subject matter to me to experience, but this time with pastels. I had never had a medium so enjoyable as this, it was what I truly needed to use to express myself. I never want to stop developing my skills or visions as a pastelist.
My paintings have been shown in galleries, juried and invitational competitions across the country and are in a number of collections, private and corporate.
